A new little beggar bunny…

A new bunny.

I’ve recently changed my method of making these carvings. They now start with one or more hollow tubes of clay to make a strong, but more easily fired final product.

Drying is key for these to survive the kiln. My work lends itself to small cracking and a very active surface, but this new method for me will keep them sound structurally for me and I will be able to do a greater variety of glazes and firing techniques to finish them.

Looking forward to layering them with slips and underglazes, and some will lend them to raku or saggar firings in the future!

Pictures to follow as this little guy makes his way through the process.
